Father's Day Fiasco

So, I was trying to be a little creative this year and not focus so much on "the gift" as to what I was giving, and just remembering. As I pondered of what to do, I thought, Hey, I'll make a dessert for each of the dad's in my life! What a great idea! They will love it! And, in my sense of well-being I decided that would be a cheescake. Not just any cheesecake either, no, a marbled chocolate cheescake, because that just sounded uber yummy.

I don't know why I decide to make things that apparently taste good, but leave your eyes wondering if your mouth really knows what it's doing. I think I've successfully made a baked cheesecake with no cracks, once. I think I just got lucky. You'd think I would learn from my mistakes, and when making something special for somebody, I would actually make something that looked amazing, and tasted even better, but no, I choose cheesecake, hoping that it will magically not have cracks this time.

Well, suffice to say, that since I was making three cheesecakes, I tripled the recipe and ended up with five cheesecakes. This wasn't a horrible thing, because, I mean, really, can you ever have too much cheesecake? But, they all cracked. Bummer. Not having anything else to take though, I diligently packed them all up and delivered them. My dear hubby of course didn't care, a. because I made it, b. because he loves cheesecake, and c. because I made it and he knew I felt bad that they didn't look "perfect."

So, I guess instead of telling them that I made them a cheesecake, I should have told them I made them a "canyon cake." It tastes just like cheescake, but it has little canyons running throughout! :)
