Wall-E movie review

Tonight we went and took the family to Wall-E. I kind of wondered wether I would like it or not since the trailers didn't really let you know all that much about what the movie was really about.

The short cartoon at the beginning of the movie is hilarious. The main movie was good as well. I was very pleasantly entertained, although, the first 20 minutes you basically sit and listen to robot sounds and no talking. That kind of struck me as...interesting, but it wasn't annoying.

At first Wall-E is on earth, and as events transpire he ends up on a space station/space ship where the humans of earth have been living for the past 700 years.

It was kind of disturbing seeing a whole population of humans that were so grossly overweight that they all were shuttled around on little floating carts and had never walked.

It was also somewhat bizarre, and I'm assuming the point was for us all to take a look at our own lives and try to exercise and eat healthier so we don't end up like that. I guess you could say that was the "hidden message" of the movie.

Still, all that aside, it was very good. A word of warning to parents with small children...we took our 4 year old, and apparently seeing this movie on the humongous big screen was a little overwhelming for her, and she got scared.

I can certainly see it from her side, I mean there are scenes of "renegade" robots and robots that are basically trying to force the humans to stay on the ship instead of going back to earth and robots beating up other robots. So I can see how seeing them on a big screen would be scary. She would have been just fine if we had waited and had her see it at home on our regular sized television.

I posted a review of this movie on my blog too. I thought you might like to see it. I also enjoyed the movie, but not as much as I had hoped. While some of the others that I went with to see it thought it was funny too in the beginning that there was so little talking, that didn't bother me. I guess I just knew that Wall-E couldn't really talk, and so I expected that and just enjoyed all his funny behaviors. I just love it when he puts the bra on his head. Isn't that silly?!
